Manufacturing production fell by 0

Manufacturing production fell by 0.6 per cent in June compared to the same month a year earlier, according to new statistics from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

However, the seasonally adjusted industrial turnover index for manufacturing industries was 0.6 per cent higher in June 2011 than in the same month last year.

The so-called "Modern" sector - comprising a number of high-tech and chemical industries - showed a 1.2 per cent decline in manufacturing production over the 12 months to the end of June.

The seasonally adjusted volume of industrialised production for manufacturing industries for the second quarter was up 0.1 per cent than in the first three months of 2011.
