Growth in lending by banks and other financial institutions slowed in November according to the latest Central Bank figures. Underlying credit growth was 11.5 per cent in November, compared to 12.9 per cent in October and 12.4 per cent in September. However the Central Bank said the fall partly reflected technical changes in the way the index is compiled.

The Bank will outline its 1996 target in its annual monetary policy statement early this year.
