THE legal eagles down in McCann Fitzgerald are feeling pretty pleased with themselves - the firm has made it into Acquisition Monthly's Top 20 lawyers involved in public company takeovers in Britain. McCann comes in at number 18, being involved in a couple of deals worth £385 million. Needless to say, that's what the whole deal was worth - not McCann's fees. Top of the list came the usual bunch of London legal bluebloods, with Freshfields bumping Slaughter & May from the number one position. Linklater & Paines came in third.
