Mr John McGilligan, chairman of the Bank of Scotland (Ireland) and managing director of Business and Trading House Investment Co Ltd, has died following a short illness.

Mr McGilligan, the son of former minister for finance, Mr Patrick McGilligan (1948-51), was a director of Bula Oil until a management reorganisation in March 1999. He is survived by his wife Grace and daughter Tanya. The removal will take place today at 5 p.m. to the Church of the Assumption in Dalkey, Monkstown, and the funeral is tomorrow following 10 a.m. Mass.
