IRISH Ispat Ltd, the company which operates the Irish Steel plant in Haulbowline, Co Cork, has appointed Mr Niall Welch to the board. Mr Welch (right) was a key adviser to Ispat International when it was buying Irish Steel.

He is managing director of Welch & Co, chartered accountants, and chairman of NET and Irish Fertilizer Industries Ltd as well as being a director of IDA Ireland.
