AN unidentified Irish group has expressed an interest in acquiring the unfinished Hotel Melia hotel and shopping complex in Caracas, Venezuela. A report said that three groups, one Irish, one Mexican and one French, had indicated an interest. Construction of the Hotel Melia started in 1987 but stopped in 1994 when the then owner could not meet bank payments and the property was transferred to the Venezuelan bank, Banco Industrial.
