A total of £65 million has been allocated under a Government initiative to revitalise unemployment blackspots nationwide, the Minister of State for European Affairs and Local Development, Mr Gay Mitchell, said yesterday. Addressing the annual enterprise forum for local development groups, in Tallaght, Mr Mitchell said the local development programme would create an estimated 8,000 jobs in 38 disadvantaged areas over the next four years.
