MUTUAL status brings lower profits but improved customer benefits was the message yesterday from the Coventry building society as it revealed first half figures. Coventry, Britain's 13th largest society, saw its pre-tax profits for the six months to June 30th slide 22.2 per cent to £14 million from £18 million in the first half of 1995.
