The number of housing constructions started in the three months to June in Britain fell by 12 per cent compared with the previous quarter, according to government figures published yesterday. The fall was led by the private housing sector where new starts dipped by 13 per cent.

Total completions rose by 2 per cent compared with the previous three months with private sector home completions up 4 per cent.
