Revenue from Hewlett Packard's operations in the Republic was up by one fifth to £57 million for year ending October 31st, the computer company said yesterday . Hewlett employs 1,200 people at its Leixlip, Co Kildare, inkjet factory. For the year net earnings were $3.1 billion, an increase of 21 per cent on the $2.6 billion earned in 1996. The company claims to have achieved a 100 per cent growth rate in the Irish personal computer (PC) market, while its consultancy business had a 75 per cent increase. It intends to increase employment in Ireland to 3,000 by 2001.
