AT least 130 jobs are to be created in west Belfast by the Hong Kong electronics company, Hanny, which is investing £16 million sterling in a factory to make recordable compact discs.

The factory will be in the Springbank Industrial Estate, in Poleglass, a predominantly nationalist area on the outskirts of the city.

It will operate as Multimedia Info Tech and is a joint venture between Hanny Holdings, of Hong Kong and Ritek of Taiwan, which are leading compact disc manufacturers.

The project is the latest in a series of hi tech industrial investments in Northern Ireland.
