Glen Dimplex has announced a £5 million (€6.4 million) investment at its Chilton Electric plant in Dunleer, Co Louth, which it states will treble its production of fan heaters. The plant, which employs 320 people, produces 600,000 heaters and this figure could rise to 1.8 million annually. Enterprise Ireland has supported the investment. Glen Dimplex is one of the world's largest electric heating business, with an annual turnover of £650 million. It has 20 manufacturing facilities in Europe and North America with a workforce of 6,500. Some 2,700 are employed in the Republic and the North.
