THE Department of the Marine has been ordered to act urgently so that exporters can continue to use the Channel Tunnel to send goods to European markets.

The Minister of State at the Department, Mr Eamon Gilmore, said yesterday he had instructed officials to urgently undertake a series of actions to speedily resolve the issue of Irish freight travelling through the Channel Tunnel".
