BT has expanded its assault on the huge German telecommunications market by signing a pact with two powerful industrial groups. The British company has signed a letter of intent with energy to chemicals group VIAG and utilities company RWE to challenge state owned Deutsche Telekom in Europe's biggest single telecommunications market. Deutsche Telekom is being privatised in accordance with EU recommendations.
