A FILING turned up in the companies office this week for a company called St Columbanus International Advisors Ltd, with Galway-based Declan Ganley listed as a director.

Ganley was linked recently with the setting up of a Swiss bank called St Columbanus AG, along with a couple of high-profile, celebrity economists here.

The economists denied any involvement while Ganley ran shy of the media for once.

But he did tweet that the story, which was run by Business Finance magazine, was incorrect and that the publication had been asked to remove it from its online site.

The new company was incorporated on Wednesday. Three directors are listed: Ganley; Paula Horan, who is listed as the company secretary; and Andrew Jamieson, who has an address in London.

St Columbanus was an Irish missionary and is the patron saint of motorcyclists.

Why this name was chosen for the new Irish entity is not clear.

Ganley didn’t return my calls yesterday.
