Irish Bank Resolution Corporation (IBRC), formerly Anglo Irish Bank, has appointed Kevin Blake, a former executive at the Co-Operative Bank in the UK, as its new chief risk officer.

Mr Blake replaces Peter Rossiter, who left IBRC last April to become chief risk officer at State-controlled bank AIB.

Mr Blake worked at the Co-Operative Bank for the last 13 years and was in charge of corporate, wholesale and personal credit risk as well as market and liquidity risk management and capital management.

IBRC said board member Roger McGreal would continue in the role of interim chief risk officer until Mr Blake took up the job. Mr McGreal would then revert to being solely a non-executive director. Asked about the differences in credit risk between IBRC and AIB at yesterday’s half-year results, Mr Rossiter said the key issue for AIB was its mortgage arrears resolution strategy, given it had a far larger mortgage book than IBRC.
