ONE MORE THING: On Wednesday, insurance broker Willis Risk Services quietly boosted

its presence in the market here with the acquisition of Attain Consulting and its sister entity, Trustee Principles.

The terms weren’t disclosed but Attain had revenues of more than €1 million, which seems impressive given that it was only set up in 2008.

Attain was established by John Feely, former chairman of the Irish Association of Pension Funds, Tara Flynn, a HR and employee engagement specialist, and Maurice Whyms, the current IAPF chair.

Whyms is a former chief executive of Mercer while Feely headed its Irish pension business so their decision to join Willis should add a bit of spice to competition between the two groups.

The trio left Mercer four years ago. Attain has 10 staff, five of them actuaries. They will join a team of 60 in Willis’s employee benefits division.

Whyms described the move as “positive” for clients and staff and an “exciting development” for the company.
