The Margin's man among the calculator carriers can report that there are a few interesting finalists in the Leinster Society of Chartered Accountants' annual published accountants competition, sponsored by Guardian Insurance.

Among those short-listed in the not-for-profit category are the Irish Horse Racing Authority and - wait for it - the Football Association of Ireland.

The FAI, of course, faced some controversy over aspects of its accounts not so long ago, but now the footie boys have produced an annual report which has caught the attention of the judges.
