Name: Anne Maher

Title: Chief executive of the Pensions Board.

Career: Member of the Commission on Public Service Pensions and an Irish representative on the EU Pensions Forum. She was previously associate director of corporate business with Irish Life where she worked for 26 years and before that she worked for New Ireland.

Why she is in the news: Great changes under way in the Irish pensions system. The Pensions Board issued its ninth annual report earlier this month and the Minister of Social, Community and Family Affairs, Mr Dermot Ahern is publishing a new reforming Pensions Bill shortly.

Personal: Ms Maher is married to Mr Paddy Maher, a consultant actuary so they speak the same language. The couple live in Dublin but also manage to run Ms Maher's family farm near Clonmel and like to holiday in Italy.
