THE European Union Commission should make public its advertising campaign to sell the euro before the start of spring, European Monetary Affairs Commissioner Mr Yves Thibault de Silguy said.

"We will put it on the table I hope before the start of spring," Mr De Silguy said at the World Economic Forum's 1996 annual meeting.

In late January, Mr De Silguy organised a round table in Brussels to come up with ideas for the decentralised campaign.

Mr De Silguy said the Commission was discussing the budget with the European Parliament.

In each country, the campaign, which will target schools, bank counters and television among other distribution points, will focus on the particular worries of those citizens.
