EU inflation at new low

EU annual inflation reached a new low of 2

EU annual inflation reached a new low of 2.3 per cent in August, Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities in Luxembourg, reported today. Nine member states were below 2 per cent.

This is the lowest inflation since Eurostat began compiling such figures in 1983 for what are now the present 15 member states. In August last year inflation was 3.1 per cent.
