Telecoms firm Equant, based in Amsterdam, and Bermuda-based Global Crossing ended merger discussions largely due to a disagreement over price yesterday.

Global Crossing, which is building under-sea and land-based fibre-optic communications networks, including one to the Republic, is the second suitor to talk to Equant over the past week without reaching a deal.
