ELAN Corporation has announced that an advisory committee of the US Food and Drugs Administration has unanimously approved Elan's Diastat rectal gel, which is used in the treatment of epilepsy.

Diastat is designed for home use is the treatment of severe epilepsy seizures, especially in children and young adults. Currently these seizures are treated in hospitals.
