The Government has appointed a new secretary general at the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation.

The Government has appointed a new secretary general at the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation.

John Murphy, the current assistant secretary for transport investment, public transport and finance in the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport will take up the role from tomorrow.

Mr Murphy previously held roles in the Departments of Labour, Finance, Environment as well as Revenue.

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton welcomed Mr Murphy's appointment, and said he would be able to play a key role in putting the department at the cutting edge of reform across Government.
