The European Commission declined yesterday to say whether Ireland’s carbon emissions trading registry ranks among 14 EU registries whose security standards are deemed to be lax after hackers stole permits worth some € 28.7 million from websites.

The theft led the EU authorities to suspend trading activities pending security improvements.
