IT seems our normally vocal economists have made a belated about-turn and become a bunch of shrinking violets. At the much-hyped economic policy conference in Ken mare last weekend, barely a whisper was heard from the floor after the controversial debate on EMU. The blazing TV lights, courtesy of RTE, might have had something to do with it. And in Kenmare, of course, the more lively debates are generally in the bar.
