Shares in the Break for the Border bars, restaurants and live music group taking in the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin rose 3p to 66p after the board said the group had "performed well" in the critical month of December.

The bars and restaurants division taking in the Cafe en Seine, Major Tom's and Synnotts in Dublin achieved further growth with like for like sales up 7 per cent in December.

The Gaiety Theatre, acquired in January last year, enjoyed "an excellent quarter with sales ahead of budget," said chairman Robert Gunlack.
