Dress sense can save Ministers more than blushes

LIKE most reporters, the Margin has cause to bump into Ministers on a regular basis and has become familiar with the dress sense of our political leaders. Ruairi Quinn's elaborate ties have been well documented but thus far there has been little public comment about one government item which has become a personal favourite Richard Bruton's petrol blue suit.

The suit, which is a regular fixture in the fight to bring jobs to the masses, is also unbeknown to its owner a life saver. Bruton the younger, dashing across Kildare St recently, came very close to being run over by a well known public relations executive, who shall remain nameless. Apparently the Minister only avoided serious injury because the flash of blue cloth miraculously caught the driver's attention. And who said dress sense wasn't important?
