A three-year expansion drive in Ireland is being planned by Dixons Group, the UK retailing group taking in the Curry's and PC World chains, on the back of strong sales growth achieved at its eight existing Irish outlets.

The company is planning to open up to 12 new stores over the next two years in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick and other urban centres.

New openings planned for the current year include a new Dixons electronics store in St Stephen's Green, Dublin; Curry's brown-and-white goods store in Liffey Valley, Dublin; and PC World selling personal computers in Galway.
