Digital Equipment Corporation has launched a free public trial of its MilliCent microcommerce system for Internet users. As an incentive, users are being given free electronic cash - MilliCent trial scrip - from Digital (http://www.digital.com), which can be exchanged for information over the Web. The patented MilliCent system enables users to purchase, and providers to sell, Internet-based goods and services - computer software, online news, articles, music, computer games, Java applets, or film clips - from one-tenth of a cent up to $5 or more.
