Information technology company Datalex is to employ 50 new software engineers in Dublin with the promise of an additional 175 new jobs here over the next 12 months.

Mr Neil Wilson, chief executive officer of the company which provides IT solutions to the airline and travel industry, said it has experienced rapid growth in a range of markets, especially over the last year.

Datalex's predicts 350 extra jobs will be created over the next year, 50 per cent of which will be abroad, based on anticipated growth levels as the company pursues a growth strategy both organically and by acquisition.

The Irish company is beginning a recruitment programme aimed at development staff at senior, junior and graduate levels to work on e-commerce projects.

Datalex has offices in Dublin, Amsterdam, Atlanta, and Melbourne and currently employs more than 300 IT professionals, 150 of which are in Dublin. Its clients include Aer Lingus, Amadeus, British Airways, Delta Airlines, and Tickets.com.
