Credit unions have outsmarted the banks when it comes to instilling customer loyalty. According to market analyst, Datamonitor, retail banks have made efforts to retain customers through relationship management programmes, but credit unions make customers feel most valued. Consumers who have had a relationship with their credit union receive more favourable prices and services from their banks than those who have been with retail banks for just as long, the report says.
