The High Court yesterday ordered that a man who was a director of two clothing companies which are in liquidation should not act as director of any company for five years unless that firm meets certain requirements of the Companies Act.

Mr Justice Shanley put a 21-day stay on his order against Mr Djamel Soualhi, a director of La Moselle Clothing Ltd and Rosegem Ltd, with registered offices at Castle Market, Dublin.

The application to the court was made by Mr Desmond Guilfoyle, of Coopers and Lybrand, who is liquidator of the two companies.
