The Republic's telecommunications market is the third most deregulated in Europe, but suffers from weaknesses linked to the ability of companies to stall decisions by the regulator through court actions, British Telecom (BT) said yesterday.

The company said its own survey of 10 European states placed the Republic joint third, with France and behind Britain and the Netherlands in terms of the overall liberalisation of the market.
