The mining company, Minmet, has announced that its subsidiary, Connary Minerals, will be the main beneficiary of an EU grant of 400,000 ecus (£315,000) for work at its Castromil gold mine in Portugal. The consortium receiving the grant also includes the British Geological Survey (BGS) and the Portuguese Instituo Geologico e Mineiro.
