The computer giant Compaq announced yesterday that Mr Joe McNally has been appointed a vice-president of the company and managing director of Compaq Ireland & UK. Mr McNally will be responsible for the newly-merged £2.7 billion Digital/ Compaq operation.

"My priority as chief executive for Ireland is to ensure that we continue to focus on Compaq's strengths while effectively leveraging and incorporating Digital's world class service, support and technology," Mr McNally said.
