The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment is to make a submission to the Moriarty tribunal on the issues of company law and the regulation of accountants by their representative bodies.

The Department is to seek limited representation when the tribunal resumes its sittings. The tribunal's terms of reference include its making broad recommendations on the reform of the disclosure, compliance, investigation and enforcement provisions of company law, in particular those relating to directors' duties. It is also to make broad recommendations on the effective regulation of members by such professional accountancy and other bodies as are relevant to the tribunal's inquiries.
