Dublin-headquartered clinical research firm Icon yesterday reported a 4 per cent rise in second-quarter net revenues, but lowered its earnings per share guidance for 2011.

Icon, which announced the acquisition of Limerick company Firecrest Clinical last week, reported net revenues for the quarter ended June 30th of $233 million (€164 million).

This brought its year-to- date revenues to $462 million, a 4.4 per cent year- on-year increase. However net income, a measure of profitability, contracted from almost $23 million to $13 million in the second quarter.
