A team at Cisco Ireland is heading up the networking giant's new Internet communications software group charged with leading Cisco's new software strategy. The Dublin team is led by Mr Stephen Doherty and will offer enterprises, service providers and application vendors complete software platforms for converged voice and data networks.

The group has set an ambitious mandate to target one billion unit sales of its global software package within 18 months.
