ONLINE RETAILER Cdiscount is to create 50 jobs at the company’s new headquarters in Dundalk, it was announced today.

The jobs will be created over the next two years at the IDA Business and Technology Park, Dundalk, Co Louth, where CDiscount has established its new Ireland and UK headquarters.

CDiscount is the online trading division of Groupe Casino of France, one of the world’s largest retailers with global revenues of over €28.7 billion.

The Dundalk headquarters will operate as one of two distribution centres for Britain and Ireland, and also as the business support and management centre with activities including finance, marketing, supply-chain management and IT.

Dundalk entrepreneur Ciarán O’Donoghue, the chief executive of Cdiscount UK and Ireland, and his brother Niall O’Donoghue have a 25 per cent stake in the operation.

Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Mary Coughlan said: “This is excellent news for Dundalk and the whole northeast, and demonstrates further the attractiveness of the region for companies seeking a location from which to develop and grow their European business.”
