There were 15,921 new private cars registered in the Republic in May of this year, an increase of 12.4 per cent on the same month in 1997, the Central Statistics Office said yesterday. From January to May 1998, there were 80,199 new private cars, a rise of 15.4 per cent for the corresponding period last year.
