The Institute of Taxation has called for a reduction in the capital gains tax rate from 40 per cent to 26 per cent in the Budget. The institute told the Minister for Finance in its pre-Budget submission that many Irish people now had money tied up in investments, which they are reluctant to realise because of the capital gains tax burden.
