Shares in the biotechnology company, Proteus International, gained 5 1/2p in London after news of the opening of a new testing laboratory for BSE in Newbridge, Co Kildare. The new Enfer Scientifics facility, opened by the Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, yesterday, will use a diagnostic test developed by Proteus, which detects BSE in beef carcasses.
