NOT everybody saw the BSE crisis as a crisis. As quick as a greyhound was the insurance industry. A London insurance broker announced that it was introducing a policy providing cover against the risk of contracting Mad Cow Disease. Goodfellow Rebecca Ingrams Pearson, or GRIP for short, said the policy would pay out a lump sum on diagnosis of Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease (CJD), the human equivalent of bovine spongiform encephalopathy, commonly know as mad cow disease. GRIP is charging £10 sterling a year for very £25,000 of cover, with a special deal available to families, brings a whole new meaning to the slang term "get a grip".
