BRITAIN is to investigate the proposed alliance between British Airways (BA) and American Airlines under European competition laws, trade minister, Mr Ian Lang has said.

He said the investigation which coincides with an investigation under British law would "increase the possibility of reaching an early decision to provide all concerned with the maximum legal certainty about the status of the proposed agreement between British Airways and American Airlines."
