Rose Hynes has been appointed chairwoman of the Bord Gáis Éireann (BGÉ) board.

Ms Hynes has served on the board of BGÉ since June 2006 and succeeds Ed O’Connell, who retired this June after eight years.

Minister for Energy Eamon Ryan said Ms Hynes had both the acumen and the drive to lead Bord Gáis into the future.

Ms Hynes, a solicitor and member of the Court of Bank of Ireland, holds directorships at a number of companies.
