New customers at National Irish Bank's new branch at Blackrock, Co Dublin, which opened yesterday, will benefit from a 2 percentage point reduction on the APR of loans greater than £5,000. The reduction is available on loans lasting more than three years.

Meanwhile, NIB - a subsidiary of National Australia Bank - announced yesterday that it will fund two £40,000, two-year, fellowships in Australian Studies at University College Dublin.
