Colin Morgan has stepped down as chief executive of sports broadcaster Setanta Ireland to join Airsynergy, a new Irish renewable energy business that has developed a wind turbine design.

Setanta Ireland’s owner Michael O’Rourke informed staff yesterday that he would be taking over as interim chief executive.

Mr O’Rourke was a co-founder of Setanta with Leonard Ryan but now wholly owns the business, having bought out his fellow shareholders in 2011.

Mr Morgan will join Airsynergy in November as chief operations officer. He has been a non-executive director of the company since 2010 and has a shareholding in its Longford-based parent, New World Energy Systems Ltd. Other shareholders in this business include financial consultant and commentator Eddie Hobbs.

In an email to staff, Mr O’Rourke thanked Mr Morgan for his work with Setanta.
