Heineken Ireland managing director David Forde has been appointed to the same position with Heineken UK.

Mr Forde, who has run the Irish business for the brewer since 2009, will take up his new post in May.

He previously worked as general manager at Heineken UK before leading the integration in that market of Scottish Newcastle acquired by the Dutch brewer in 2008.

Heineken recently announced it had increased market share in a shrinking Irish market in terms of both volume and value. The company reported sales of €464 million for last year.
