More than 60 people will lose their jobs at the end of this month as Kiely's bakery in Tipperary town shuts down. A spokesman for the company, which is part of Irish Pride Bakeries, said the operation was no longer a competitive production unit and that the management had decided to close the plant "with deep regret". In total, 72 people - including 12 part-time workers - will lose their employment as a result of the closure.
